Valentine's Day update: Wedding bells for WSU Applebaum grads

Happy Valentine's Day! Last year we brought you Love in the Lab, featuring some of the many couples who found each other right here at WSU Applebaum. Four of those couples have since tied the knot! Check out their wedding photos below.

Kirk and Colin Bennett-Colter, both 2019 graduates of the WSU Applebaum Physician Assistant Studies program, were married in August 2021 with many of their PAS classmates in attendance. Colin is a PA at Be Well Medical Center in Berkley practicing in family medicine with a focus on HIV and transgender care. Kirk a PA in internal medicine with Independent Hospitalist Physicians at Providence Hospital in Southfield.

Andrew and Gabriella (Karmo) Hanna, both members of the WSU Applebaum PharmD Class of 2019, married in September 2021. "Everything turned out beautiful and we’re so thankful for our family, friends and a beautiful September day to get married," Gabriella said. Andrew is an outpatient pharmacist with Meijer and Gabriella is an inpatient pharmacist at Ascension Providence Park-Novi.

WSU Applebaum occupational therapy graduates Olympia Sanchez '20 and Ardit Mitaj '15 married in August 2021. Their officiant was fellow OT Joe Evens. "It was a beautiful day, one of the last hot days of 2021," Olympia said. "Instead of a limo or bus to take us and our party to the venue, we decided to have a parade!" The wedding party and guests walked from the Shinola Hotel to the Colony Club in Detroit for the ceremony and reception. Ardit is going on his sixth year working at Henry Ford Hospital; Olympia just started working at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan on the spinal cord unit. Both love their jobs!

Adam and Carly (Kyriazis) Storts, both members of the Physician Assistant Studies Class of 2018, married in September 2021. "It was a great wedding!" Carly said. Adam has worked at Beaumont Royal Oak in the emergency department since graduating in 2018. Carly worked for three years at University of Michigan Hospital in the emergency department and then in March 2021 moved into a new role at St. Joes Ann Arbor in cardiothoracic surgery/SICU, which she enjoys.
