PHOP is back: Parker’s House of Pancakes returns to WSU Applebaum on Thursday, March 9

The delicious smell of flapjacks, butter and maple syrup will soon be taking over the Applebaum Building with the much awaited return of Parker’s House of Pancakes! After a long hiatus, the annual Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) fundraiser is set to return next month from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, March 9.

“The eponymous fundraiser, named after SNPhA Faculty Advisor Dr. Dennis Parker, was a much-loved event at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences,” said SNPhA President Obioma Opara. “The last time Parker’s House of Pancakes took place was before the start of the pandemic. Our SNPhA chapter is more than excited to be bringing PHOP back next month!”

The return of PHOP is slated to take place on Thursday, March 9, in the Student Commons. Different kinds of pancakes, cooked and served by none other than Dr. Parker himself, will be sold beginning at 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. PHOP will also have bacon, hashbrowns, halal sausage, coffee and other beverages.

Proceeds from the PHOP fundraiser will go to support the Wayne State University SNPhA chapter and its various projects and initiatives. The group’s purpose is to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of minority communities.

The Doctor of Pharmacy program at Wayne State University is a four-year curriculum in the heart of Detroit. Approximately 100 students are enrolled in each year of the program. WSU Applebaum information meetings for prospective students take place at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The application process for the Doctor of Pharmacy program begins each July.
