Charles M. Washington serves as the Senior Director in Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. In his position Charles has compiled a successful track record in business plan development, program implementation, budget development and management, process improvement, accreditation attainment and management, organizational development, personnel leadership development and internal/external networking and connectivity. He started his professional healthcare career after graduation from Wayne State University's Radiation Therapy Technology Program in Detroit, Michigan, with a baccalaureate degree. He received his MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University and ultimately earned his doctoral degree in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California.

Charles has contributed to the body of professional knowledge through publication of many professional peer-reviewed articles on radiation oncology practice, inclusive of work on the patient experience and service recovery. He has edited and authored Washington and Leaver's Principles and Practice of Radiation Therapy textbook published by Mosby, currently negotiating a contract for a sixth edition. He has instructed and lectured on various aspects of professional practice on the local, regional, national, and international levels.

Charles has a wealth of leadership experience as a board member of several organizations. He serves as a Board Member of the Urban League of Essex County since 2021 providing service and directional leadership in Northern New Jersey. Charles has served as an American Society of Radiologic Technologist appointed Board Trustee of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, having completed eight years of service on that board. He also was an ARRT appointed Board Trustee of the American Board of Imaging Informatics, serving for over 4 years. His commitment to community service and leadership has been further realized with his active membership of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. since April 1982, having served in leadership positions at all organizational levels.
