WSU Lambda Kappa Sigma Omicron is first runner up for Chapter of the Year

LKS The Lambda Kappa Sigma (LKS) National Convention was held in Milwaukee, WI, from July 31 through Aug. 3, 2019. Samantha Langell, president, Natalie Brikho, past president, Ahlam Daoud, president-elect, Leanne Olney, social chair, Najifa Choudhury, LKS alumna, and Debbie Bourquin, LKS alumna, represented the Wayne State University Omicron collegiate and alumni chapters at the convention.

During the convention, attendees networked with chapter leaders from different pharmacy programs, built leadership skills and attended business sessions.

The Omicron chapter and members received many awards, including the First Runner Up for Chapter of the Year Award, a prestigious award representing competition among the nation's 31 chapters of LKS.

"We've moved up from regional awards for best chapter to overall best chapter awards," said Professor Mary Beth O'Connell. "These young women do much for community engagement, professional events and professional development. I am fortunate to work with such smart and motivated members to make a change in the world, pharmacy and sister development."

In addition, Leah Samman received the Cora E. Crave Educational Grant based on academics and co-curricular activities and leadership. LKS Scholarship Keys went to Carly Burns and Kristen Zofchak for ranking in the top 10% of their class.
