Ulyana Kucherepa, PharmD '21, named AACP Walmart Scholar

Ulyana KucherepaWayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Doctor of Pharmacy graduate Ulyana Kucherepa '21 has been selected for the American Association of College of Pharmacy (AACP) Walmart Scholars Program, along with her faculty mentor Professor of Pharmacy Practice Mary Beth O'Connell

The annual program is part of AACP and Walmart's commitment to helping colleges and schools of pharmacy ensure there is an adequate number of well-prepared individuals who aspire to join the faculties at institutions across the country by strengthening the scholars' skills and commitment to a career in academic pharmacy. 

Kucherepa is among 85 graduate students, doctoral students, residents and fellows nationwide to earn a spot in the program for 2021. Each Walmart Scholar will work with a faculty mentor on a research project throughout the year and participate in the AACP Annual Meeting.

Kucherepa and O'Connell have recruited Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Director of Assessment Justine Gortney to their research team. They will be evaluating a new cultural competency assessment tool to assess longitudinal growth across the Wayne State PharmD program's didactic curriculum.  

As a PharmD student, Kucherepa was a member of the American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), Lambda Kappa Sigma (LKS) and the Student Pharmacist Diversity Council (SPDC). She is now completing a residency in St. Louis.
