Dr. Linda Jaber to speak on ACCESS Arab Health Summit panel on Oct. 21

On Oct. 19-21, Professor of Pharmacy Practice Linda Jaber is participating in the ACCESS 9th Annual Arab Health Summit. ACCESS is the largest Arab American community nonprofit in the United States, with 10 locations and more than 120 programs serving metro Detroit.

The Arab Health Summit serves as a platform for researchers in the United States to connect with their global counterparts, including in the MENA (Middle Eastern and North African) region, for a unique opportunity to exchange best practices and develop research relationships that may build sustainable public health infrastructure globally.

Advancing Health Equity for Women Amidst a Pandemic affirms the nonprofit's strong commitment to preventing disease, reducing health disparities and promoting wellness in the community at large. 

At 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, Dr. Jaber will sit on a panel with Wayne State University's Dr. Phil Levy and other health care professionals to discuss "Healthy Women, Healthy Communities: Building a Post-Pandemic Intrastructor for Treating Non-Communicable Diseases."

Support Dr. Jaber by registering for this event, which will serve as a platform for discussions around health rights, public health research, capacity building and community engagement as it relates to health and mental health issues among immigrants, refugees and vulnerable populations.

Additional speakers include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, as well as Wayne State faculty members Dr. Sonia Hassan, Dr. Rouba Fehmi and Dr. Patricia A. Wren, among others.

Speakers and panelists will discuss a wide range of topics including immigrant and refugee health, creating healthy communities, mental health and substance use prevention, empowering women leaders, healthy aging and more.
