Lou Kramer named to 2022 Power List by The Pathologist magazine

Pathologists' Assistant Program Director and Assistant Clinical Professor Lou Kramer

Pathologists‘ Assistant Program Director and Assistant Clinical Professor Lou Kramer has earned a spot on The Power List, an annual feature published in The Pathologist magazine celebrating the great and inspirational minds that underpin the medical laboratory.

Since 2015, the list has been curated by The Pathologist magazine, which empowers those involved in disease diagnostics to speak up for themselves and their profession, giving them a platform to discuss their work, its advances and advantages, and the changing face of medicine and medical education.

Kramer was nominated by the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA).

“Congratulations on being recognized as a Power List honoree for the outstanding work you do on behalf of the AAPA and the profession,” said AAPA Executive Director Michelle L. Sok. “And, what impressive company you have with five other PAs on the list.”

This year’s Power List is comprised of five space-themed categories: Ready for Take-Off, Ground Control, Voyage of Discovery, First Contact and Strange New Worlds. Kramer’s Ground Control award page is reprinted below. Visit The Pathologist to see the entire 2022 Power List.

Lou is a Forensic Pathologists’ Assistant, Program Director, and Assistant Professor (Clinical) at the Wayne State University Pathologists’ Assistant program. Her interest in pathology began after shadowing pathologists in her undergraduate anatomy dissection laboratory; seeing autopsy and anatomy come together set her on course to become a forensic pathologists’ assistant. Undeterred by advice that “PAs don’t work in forensics,” Lou achieved her dream position through a mix of interest, networking, and a lack of fear in breaking down barriers – and she hopes to see other PAs follow in her footsteps to make a positive impact on pathology workforce shortages.
