Volunteer practitioners needed for Dominican Republic medical brigade

Timmy Global Health WSU ChapterThe Wayne State University chapter of Timmy Global Health, a medical mission organization, is working to recruit the necessary medical professionals and volunteers to support a trip to the Dominican Republic in August. The group needs practitioners with MD, DO, PA, NP, RN and RPh credentials.

The medical brigade takes place August 3-11, 2019, in Monte Cristi, a small province in the northwest of the Dominican Republic near the Haitian border.

The group is seeking a team of 18 volunteers, 4-6 providers (MD, DO, NP, PA), 1-2 nurses (RN) and 1-2 pharmacists (RPh) to assist in Timmy Global Health's mobile medical clinics, providing access to primary care treatment to five partner communities in the Monte Cristi area, which it visits every two to three months. A normal clinic day lasts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with cultural and leisure activities in the evening and weekends, including a nature hike, live music and dancing, and a tour of the mangroves and Isla Cabra.

An information session will be held at St. John Providence Hospital, Southfield Campus, 22250 Providence Dr., Southfield, MI 48075, Conference Room B, on Tuesday, March 12, at 8:30 a.m.
