Pharmacy CE credit available for College Research Day keynote

The 19th annual Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Research Day is Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, and pharmacists who attend the keynote presentation may be able to earn 1 contact hour of live continuing education credit.

Andrew King, MDThe keynote will take place at 11 a.m. in the WSU Applebaum auditorium and will also be streamed live on Zoom. Andrew King, MD, Wayne State associate clinical professor of emergency medicine and attending physician at Sinai Grace Hospital, Detroit Receiving Hospital and Children's Hospital of Michigan Regional Poison Control Center, will discuss opioid use disorder, including approaches to treatment and his experience in Detroit.

Free pharmacist CE credit is limited to 50 in-person keynote attendees and 100 live virtual keynote attendees. When you register for College Research Day by Sept. 28, check the box noting you'd like pharmacy CE credit and provide your NABP ID, and you will receive more information via email.

NOTE: If you registered for College Research Day before the CE credit was announced, you may re-register and check the appropriate box.

College Research Day also features poster presentations by student and faculty researchers from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Abstracts are due Sept. 26.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, the pharmacist participant will be able to::

  1. Describe the current opioid crisis in Michigan and the United States
  2. Define opioid use disorder
  3. Describe evidence-based approaches for opioid use disorder
  4. Discuss the role of the pharmacist in pain management approaches including appropriate opioid prescribing and deprescribing
