Pathologists' Assistant Heidi Wagner, Physical Therapist Michael Nanzer join the WSU Applebaum Board of Visitors

The Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has appointed two new members to its Board of Visitors: Heidi Wagner and Michael Nanzer.

The WSU Applebaum Board of Visitors serves to strengthen the college's relationships with external constituencies and support fundraising and outreach.

"I am grateful to all of our board members for the expertise, connections and guidance they provide," said Dean Brian Cummings. "Heidi will add her depth of experience in the pathologists' assistant realm, and we can count on Mike's successes in strategic planning and physical therapy. We are lucky to have them on our Board of Visitors."

Heidi WagnerHeidi Wagner, a 2006 alumna of the WSU Applebaum Pathologists' Assistant program, is head of operations and a staff scientist II of UHN Biospecimen Services at Toronto's University Health Network. In this role, she brings together patient initiatives, best practices and governance policies, philanthropy engagement, industry partnerships and supports for a rapidly evolving research enterprise. She has over 15 years of professional experience in the biobanking, surgical pathology and health research sectors, and has held several leadership, clinical and research roles at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

"I am honored to be selected as an alumni advisor to the dean of my alma mater," Wagner said. "I look forward to serving on the Board of Visitors and giving back to my professional community".

Michael Nanzer, DPT, MBA, FACHE

Michael NanzerMichael Nanzer is the founder and executive leader of boutique consulting firm N1 Consulting, LLC, which specializes in business and management consulting, interim leadership, practice management and growth, and operational efficiency. He has provided strategic planning to numerous medical, physical therapy, and chiropractic clinics resulting in improved growth, operational efficiencies, and quality improvement. He earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Michigan in 2003 and an MBA at the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business in 2007.

"I deeply appreciate the opportunity to serve as a member of the Applebaum College Board of Visitors," Nanzer said. "It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the advancement of my professional community and support the dean in his vision for the future."
