OTL Faculty Teaching Highlights:
Student presentations via case studies

Roseanne and two of her students demonstrate the use of presentations of case studies

Welcome to our fourth edition of Faculty Teaching Highlights for the 2022-2023 academic year, presented by faculty, for faculty. This series features WSU instructors' effective teaching strategies that you can readily implement into your courses.

In this edition, Rosanne DiZazzo-Miller, associate professor in the occupational therapy program, discusses how she uses student-led presentations on case studies to improve engagement and learning in her courses and outlines the benefits she sees to creating this kind of assignment. She is joined by Erin Armbruster and Andrea Breckenridge, both former students who share their perspectives on how presenting these case studies to their peers encouraged them to think critically about the material and improved their overall learning experience.

If you want to learn more about creating group projects and encouraging students to take charge of their learning, please schedule a consultation with the OTL and visit some of the resources below. You can also catch up on previous Faculty Teaching Highlight videos and emails by visiting their archive in the OTL’s Virtual Resource Hub.
