OT professors invited to national workshop aiming to stimulate new research on aging in place

AOTF Workshop Participants
AOTF Planning Grant Collective Workshop participants from across the country met in Alexandria, VA, to brainstorm new research possibilities in OT and aging.

Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences faculty members Malcolm Cutchin and Heather Fritz are part of a small group of occupational therapy aging researchers invited from across the country to work toward laying the foundation for the next generation of innovative research in occupational therapy and aging as part of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) Planning Grant Collective Workshop "Stimulating Research to Enhance Aging in Place: A Continuum of Home and Community-Based Services."

The upcoming workshop, which takes place in Alexandria, VA, aims to stimulate new research agendas in the area of occupational therapy and aging in place. Participants will work to establish collaborative teams that will develop new research grant proposals designed to advance the evidence base for home and community-based services that support aging in place. Workshop participants will generate and prioritize novel research questions during the workshop, generating plans that put them on the path toward competitive grant submissions.

In addition, WSU Applebaum Interim Dean Catherine Lysack, who is also an AOTF Planning Grant Committee member, will lead a session at the workshop.
