Make Valentines for homebound Meals-on-Wheels seniors at WSU Applebaum

Valentine making stationWSU Applebaum is partnering with Wayne County Senior Services on their Have a heart, Give a heart project, which aims to deliver 5,000 handcrafted Valentines to homebound seniors in Wayne County. Valentines will be delivered with home-delivered meals by Meals on Wheels program volunteers.

Students, faculty and staff can make Valentines in the Office of Student Affairs, Suite 1600, during normal business hours now through Feb. 14. Valentines in Arabic, Spanish and English are needed.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, WSU Applebaum is hosting a media day for local TV stations to film our community making Valentines and promote the program. This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. sharp.

Purpose: Provide Valentine love to isolated segments of our community.

Valentine Size: No larger than a 8.5x11 size paper, valentine and all decorations constructed of paper, no glitter - no food/candy

EXAMPLE: Each member of your class, organization, office or team at your meetings make a card (8x11 paper), cut a paper heart and decorate it - simple or elaborately -as you want (no glitter) and drop off or mail them to the Wayne County Senior Services department office by 2/14 until 2/28. Done! WC volunteers will deliver with meals during the 2/14-2/28 time period.
