Mortuary Science alumna Charli Rose '15 among Michigan Chronicle's 40 Under 40

Charli E. Rose, a 2015 graduate of the Wayne State University mortuary science program, earned a 2019 Michigan Chronicle 40 Under 40 Award. The awards, now in their fourth year, recognize metro Detroit African-American professionals with inspirational vision, leadership, exceptional achievements and participation in community service.

"They are individuals who exemplify extraordinary stature, poise and integrity who continue to break the mold and affect change in their professions and community," explains Michigan Chronicle writer Jemell T. Cotton in a story posted on the paper's website. "These young stars influence those around them to go beyond the norm and strive for greatness. They are champions of our economic empowerment and diversity, the backbone of our business, religious and educational organizations, and driving forces in politics and service." 

After earning her bachelor's in mortuary science at Wayne State and becoming a licensed mortician, Rose completing her apprenticeship under Terrance Andrews and has made significant contributions at Andrews Funeral Home in Detroit. 

A member of the Michigan Select Funeral Directors Association, Rose also serves the Wayne County Executive’s Office as a community outreach affiliate, providing support to the 43 cities in Wayne County through awareness, communication and charity. She is a graduate student at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology studying forensic psychology.
