FAWN strengthens partnerships in preparation for World AIDS Day on Thursday, Dec. 1World AIDS Day presents an opportunity for people across the globe to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for those living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first-ever global health day. To commemorate World AIDS Day this year, WSU Applebaum’s Fighting AIDS with Nutrition (FAWN) student organization is once again organizing events on campus to spread awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and support its global and local outreach programs that help patients living with HIV/AIDS.

Free and open to the public, the event showcased Clinical Laboratory Science, Mortuary Science and Pathologists' Assistant programs. Visitors toured the four-story building, which houses the most advanced teaching and research resources in pathology, anatomy, embalming, restorative arts and clinical laboratory science.

A team of students wrote, performed, directed and produced a two-minute space-themed video ahead of participating in the annual Quiz Bowl.

Dr. Sara F. Maher appointed as permanent associate dean for health sciencesDr. Maher had served as interim associate dean for health sciences since January 2022, assuming oversight of nine clinical programs, which include Clinical Laboratory Science, Mortuary Science, Pathologists’ Assistant, Nurse Anesthesia, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Radiation Therapy Technology and Radiologic Technology. During this time, she has also stepped up to lead the Office of Student Affairs on an interim basis.

Pharmacy CE opportunity Oct. 17: Implementation of Pharmacist Prescribing Contraception in a Busy Community PharmacyProfessor of Pharmacy Practice Mary Beth O'Connell has organized an upcoming continuing education opportunity for pharmacists and pharmacy techs. The Oct. 17 panel, which includes pharmacists prescribing contraception from independent, grocery and chain pharmacies from three different states, is part of a tri-college CE series that is accredited by the Michigan Pharmacists Association.
