Clinical Laboratory Science program changes name to Medical Laboratory ScienceTo better reflect the importance of this role in medicine, and to evolve with industry-standard language, the Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Clinical Laboratory Science program has changed its name to Medical Laboratory Science.

Detroit Free Press: Two Detroit funeral homes find ways to support each other, featuring WSU Mortuary Science alumsWhen Detroiters think of Black-owned funeral homes, these specific last names come to mind: Swanson, Hutchison, Cole, Pye, Clora, Thompson, Barksdale, Ellis, Stinson, Jeter. During Black History Month, the Free Press spent a couple of hours with the owners of Hutchison Funeral Home and O.H. Pye III Funeral Home. The funeral homes opened a year apart from each other, in 1979 and 1980.

Kappa Psi brothers among WSU Warriors honored by Wayne County Pharmacists AssociationLast month, the Wayne County Pharmacists Association held its annual awards and installation ceremony. The gathering was an auspicious one, especially for Wayne State University Warriors, several of whom were honored by the WCPA and their colleagues from the pharmacy profession.

FAWN strengthens partnerships in preparation for World AIDS Day on Thursday, Dec. 1World AIDS Day presents an opportunity for people across the globe to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for those living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first-ever global health day. To commemorate World AIDS Day this year, WSU Applebaum’s Fighting AIDS with Nutrition (FAWN) student organization is once again organizing events on campus to spread awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and support its global and local outreach programs that help patients living with HIV/AIDS.

Visitors toured the four-story building, which houses the most advanced teaching and research resources in pathology, anatomy, embalming, restorative arts and clinical laboratory science.
