Join or support the WSU Applebaum Baroudeur team for diversity scholarships

2019 WSU Applebaum Baroudeur riders before the raceThe 2019 Baroudeur, Wayne State University’s annual cycling event, will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, and the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences team is riding with a very important mission: To raise funds for the college's diversity scholarship.

The Baroudeur is a fun, noncompetitive event — including a post-ride party on campus complete with lunch, craft beer, and music — that gives riders of all abilities an opportunity to explore the Motor City and surrounding area on two wheels while helping WSU students pursue higher education. Registration is now open

Riders who wish to join the WSU Applebaum team may select "EACPHS Diversity Scholarship Riders" as their team during registration. Last year, the WSU Applebaum team raised nearly $2,500 for the EACPHS Diversity Scholarship fund, more than any other WSU school or college. Donations may be made to the scholarship fund via Warrior Funder to be counted among the college's total.

This year, participants can choose between four courses — 20, 37, 62 or 100 miles — based on their individual experience and fitness levels. All Baroudeur courses are on the open road, and cyclists will be riding with vehicular traffic and must obey traffic laws. Now in its fifth year, the 2019 Baroudeur will include route updates based on participant feedback.

The Baroudeur is also seeking volunteers, particularly those with medical backgrounds. Various volunteer positions and shifts are available throughout the day, and all volunteers receive a free t-shirt and are invited to attend the post-ride party. You can sign up to volunteer online
