Chair's Welcome

I offer you our warmest welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which is located in the 270,000 square foot Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the gateway to the Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University.

The pharmaceutical sciences span basic to multidisciplinary and translational aspects of human health, including the conception, discovery, formulation, delivery, action and safety of therapeutic drugs and other agents. The department is also home to research-intensive programs of study covering a wide range of specialized areas for outstanding postdoctoral fellows and undergraduates.

Are you a student with a degree in the biological or physical sciences who wants to improve human health and safety? Our Ph.D. and M.S. programs provide a stimulating and supportive environment for your advanced education and for the successful completion of your original research project. Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences candidates receive graduate research assistantships consisting of competitive stipends, remission of tuition and full health insurance.

Become one of our graduates by joining our academic tradition and a family that prizes excellence, collegiality and community. Our graduates are making a difference locally and globally and changing the world, one step at a time.

Whether you select our department or a similarly outstanding program, you have my best wishes for success in all of your professional endeavors.
