Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy dean to visit WSU Applebaum

The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will host Imad Btaiche, professor and dean of the Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy, from Oct. 16-17. Wayne State and Lebanese American University established student and faculty exchange programs in 2017.

Btaiche will meet with WSU Vice President for Research Stephen Lanier, the EACPHS administrators, and faculty members from the departments of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He will also tour Harper Hospital and Wayne State University facilities.

Pharmacy faculty are invited to a roundtable discussion with Btaiche on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Pharmacy Practice conference room. Please get in touch with Linda Jaber (ljaber@wayne.edu) for more information or to confirm your attendance.

About Imad F. Btaiche

Btaiche earned his B.S. and PharmD at the Lebanese University Faculty of Pharmacy, Beirut. He completed his Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and was clinical associate professor at the U-M College of Pharmacy and clinical pharmacist and program director of the Critical Care Specialty Residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (UMHHC), Ann Arbor. At UMHHC, Btaiche was also the Nutrition Support team leader, and a clinician team member of the Children’s Intestinal Rehabilitation Program, Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery. He also served as co-chair of the Residency Advisory Committee, Department of Pharmacy Services, and was an elected clinical faculty representative on the Executive Committee as well as the Leadership Group at the College of Pharmacy.

He is past-president and Board of Directors member of the Michigan Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (MSPEN), and was secretary and treasurer of the Pharmacy Practice Section of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). He is one of the editors of the UMHHC Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Manual eighth and ninth editions, and has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (JPEN) and Nutrition in Clinical Practice (NCP).

Btaiche returned to Lebanon in 2011 to join the Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy, rising from associate dean for academic affairs, to interim dean of the School of Pharmacy in 2013, to dean in 2015. He has also been the Chair of LAU’s Interprofessional Education (IPE) program since fall 2017.
