Aims: 1. determine the relationship between skin blood flow response and clinical measures of pain (NIPS scores, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation) in the newborn infant using the heel lance model. 2. determine the temporal skin blood flow response to painful stimuli using the heel lance model. 3. evaluate effect of oral sucrose 24% solution on skin blood flow response during heel lance.

Aim: study to evaluate the effect of lidocaine 4% cream for topical anesthesia

The pharmacist naloxone survey
Aim: The goal is to examine knowledge and willingness of pharmacists practicing in Michigan community pharmacies to provide and administer naloxone to individuals. This expanded survey is part of a larger project in collaboration with the WSU Urban Studies Center that aims to have pharmacists train individuals within the neighborhoods surrounding their community pharmacies to administer naloxone. Not Funded.

Pilot trial of nebulized fentanyl on self-reported dyspnea in advanced lung cancer
Aims: To determine 1) enrollment feasibility and acceptability of a nebulized fentanyl clinical trial in patients with advanced stage lung cancer, 2) test the study measures with a sample of patients with advanced stage lung cancer and 3) determine duration of effect of nebulized fentanyl on self-reported dyspnea relief. Not funded.

Aim: to identify gaps pharmacists’ knowledge regarding dispensing of naloxone in the community as pilot for education program development. Completed October 2016.
