Warrior Preceptor of the Year Award

The purpose of the EACPHS Warrior Preceptor of the Year Award is to recognize and honor preceptors who have demonstrated commitment and excellence in the following areas:

  • Providing exceptional experiential educational learning that integrates students into the practice of pharmacy
  • Promoting an environment that fosters and facilitates student learning through problem-solving and active participation in direct or indirect patient care services
  • Displaying leadership and service to patients and the profession

Who can be nominated? 

Any volunteer preceptor of Wayne State University PharmD Students.

Who can nominate? 

Faculty, peers and supervisors can nominate eligible volunteer preceptors they believe meet the Warrior Preceptor of the Year Award criteria.

What are the award criteria? 

Nominees will be evaluated based upon performance in the following three areas:

  1. Experiential education: Serve as a Wayne State PharmD student preceptor for a minimum of 3 years for IPPE and/or APPE rotations. Nominees must have precepted a minimum of 2 IPPE students and/or at least 3 APPE students during the current academic year.
  2. Pharmacy practice: Demonstrate commitment to excellence in his/her practice area through consistent integration of students as active participants in direct and/or indirect patient care services. Establish new patient care services or implement services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing and/or transitions of care. Enhance care of patients through the creation of new practice models. Contribute to the advancement of pharmacy through research publications, providing presentations or service as a reviewer related to practice area.
  3. Leadership, service and professionalism: Role model active involvement in local, state and/or national pharmacy organizations and serve as a mentor for student pharmacists for opportunities in research, projects, health fairs, or patient education sessions. Provide service to EACPHS through involvement as a facilitator for pharmacotherapeutic problem-solving (PPS), a patient care lab instructor, a lecturer, a committee member and/or PharmD applicant interviewer. 

How to nominate

Nomination due date: TBA  

Nominations may be submitted through an online form, which includes providing the nominator and nominee information, completing a nominee assessment form and providing a brief statement describing how the nominee meets the award criteria.

Once nominations have been submitted, the nominee will be notified and required to submit their CV and fill out a form providing a brief personal reflective statement describing their contributions to the three award criteria.

Warrior Preceptor of the Year Awards will be presented to awardees at the Annual Preceptor Event on Friday, April 26, 2024.

How will the selection proceed?

The experiential education award committee will review each nomination received by the deadline. The committee will evaluate each nominee based on the provided information and record pertaining to the three areas: Experiential education; pharmacy practice; and leadership, service and professionalism. Up to four Warrior Preceptor of the Year Awards will be provided annually.
