Yoga at WSU Applebaum Tuesdays and Thursdays all summer

Take time to do what makes your soul happy.Interested in yoga? Each Tuesday and Thursday all summer, Education Specialist Karen Gessler will lead a yoga class for the WSU Applebaum community. Each class takes place from noon to 1 p.m. in room 4545 of the Applebaum building at 259 Mack Ave. No prior experience is necessary.

"Whether you have done yoga for years or have never done yoga before, and no matter what your level of flexibility, there is something here that will work for you, " Gessler said. "Let's work on improving our mental and physical health together this season."

The first class is Tuesday, June 18, when participants will learn how to correctly move into and hold basic yoga poses, including:

  • Table
  • Downward Dog
  • Standing Forward Fold
  • Mountain
  • Monkey
  • Warrior 1
  • Warrior 2
  • Triangle
  • Standing Straddle Splits
  • Spinal Twist
  • Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, and bring a yoga mat. You may also want to bring a yoga block (inexpensive and available at Target, Walmart, Meijer, etc).

    Tuesdays will be vinyasa flow classes, and Thursdays will be deep stretch classes that will work for any fitness level, from those with lots of flexibility to those with no flexibility at all.
