HPV is a very dangerous virus. The facts:

  • Eighty million Americans are already infected.
  • 14 million more become infected every year.
  • 17,000 women and 9,000 men get cancers related to HPV every year.
  • We already have a vaccine to prevent it.
  • Khatib's lecture will answer the questions:

  • How effective is the vaccine?
  • How safe is it?
  • What are the side effects?
  • And are we doing a good job giving it to people to prevent cancer?
  • Khatib is a board-certified pediatrician affiliated with Beaumont Hospital. In practice for 25 years, he has received more than 25 awards related to vaccines including two national awards: CDC Childhood Immunization Champion in 2014, and CDC HPV is Cancer Prevention Award in 2018. He has done many vaccine-related presentations at CDC headquarters and at vaccine conferences held by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Wayne County. His vaccine work has been featured in the media, including in the Wall Street Journal.
