Professor Steven Firestine to present Knowledge on Tap: The Chemistry of Beer

KOT: The Chemistry of BeerThe Wayne State University Alumni Association is taking Knowledge on Tap on the road, and Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Steven Firestine will share his expertise in Chicago with "From Bench to Barstool: The Chemistry of Beer."

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 9 p.m. attendees will learn about the history of beer and the chemistry necessary to brew their next pint. This free event takes place at Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N, Lincoln Ave., Chicago. Wayne State alumni are asked to RSVP to receive one free drink ticket.

Firestine received a B.S. with honors in chemistry from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from Purdue University. At the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Firestine teaches pharmacy and graduate students in the areas of pharmaceutical biotechnology and medicinal chemistry. He is the director of the EACPHS graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences.

Knowledge on Tap on the Road consists of live - and lively - discussions with some of Wayne State's greatest minds. The series gives alumni a chance to interact with Wayne State experts in their own hometown throughout the year. Additional stops are planned for Fort Lauderdale, Washington D.C. and Palo Alto, CA.
