"Believe it or clot": Christopher Giuliano on The Rounds Table

Associate Professor (Clinical) of Pharmacy Practice Christopher Giuliano is back on The Rounds Table podcast with Carrie Hartner, clinical pharmacist in a medical intensive care unit. In this week's episode, "Believe it or Clot," they cover rivaroxaban in preventing thrombosis in patients with Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome (APS) and in patients with cancer.

The prevalence of APS is 50 in 100,000 patients and it is associated with arterial and venous thromboembolic events and pregnancy morbidity. There is limited research evaluating rivaroxaban in APS. Giuliano reviews a randomized control trial on patients with APS receiving rivaroxaban or warfarin and compares the rate of thromboembolic and bleeding events.

The Rounds Table podcast covers the latest research from the major medical journals to help clinicians keep up to date. The show can be played and downloaded at https://healthydebate.ca/theroundstable/believe-it-or-clot.
