Lloyd Y. Young was appointed as professor and dean at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in August 2009. He previously served as chairperson for the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco and was the first to hold the Thomas A. Oliver Endowed Chair in Clinical Pharmacy. As an alumnus of UCSF, Dr. Young returned to his alma mater after serving as professor and founding director of the Cooperative Pharmacy Program at University of Texas in El Paso and assistant dean for the College of Pharmacy at University of Texas in Austin. Immediately prior to his years in Texas, Dr. Young served as director of pharmacy services and IV therapy services for Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, WA and as a tenured faculty member at Washington State University. Dr. Young also has served on the Washington State Board of Pharmacy and on various professional organizations and editorial boards. Dr. Young is best known for his collaboration with Dr. Mary Anne Koda-Kimble in the publication of Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs. This 3000+ paged-publication, now in its 9th edition, is a world-renowned textbook for students and practitioners.
